Don't get frighten with this title, 'Nelumbo nucifera' is the generic name for the lotus plant. ;-)

colour the sky

Colour the sky: orange.
In India this orange coloured flower is known as Gulmohar (Hindi and Urdu -‘Gul’ means flower and ‘Mohr’ is ‘peacock’, thus the name suggests a spectacular show of color, like the extraordinary colors of a peacock's tail). It is also one of several trees known as Flame tree.

Hibiscus

When I say flower(s), do I need to mention 'beautiful'? Every flower is indeed beautiful. Even the cactus' flowers are beautiful to watch (only to eyes). They are not guaranteed beautiful if you pluck them and get yourself poked by the thorns. BTW, this photos wont poke you. It is just beautiful pink hibiscus.

We all are familiar with red coloured hibiscus. And did you know Hibiscus are also available in yellow and white colours.

Maroon

When I was kid, my mum used to refer 'maroon' so many times and tell me maroon this and maroon that, I used to feel, maroon is so typical Gujarati. But later I learnt, maroon is so English. And much later I came to know word 'maroon' was derived from French. Strange world! BTW, I loved this maroon flowers!

It's my turn to share some flowers with you, our lovely readers :) I am sorry I could not continue with girl week, I had to give priority to some other things first.

But no matter, I am here now, and I will post as much of those photos as I can, soon.

I wish I could grow a garden of peonies (the pink flower in the photo), but sadly, they only grow in areas with extreme cold/where it snows. :( So I have to make do with the fake version. 

But I think it is just as beautiful as the real thing.

As Kunal is off attending to his studies, I will be posting throughout the week. You will see here a volley of photographs containing flowers, lace, glitter, and the sort. Rest assured, I will try to reduce the sugariness of it all and try to make them interesting.

This is me experimenting with Canon 5D. A stunning camera that I am still trying to figure out. These frilled marigolds are from my gran's garden. Aren't they lovely?!

I don't know what is it called. They looked wonderful so took a snap. Tel me if you know what it is.

And hey, in the background on left side did you notice that leaves with thorns? Thorns are on the surface of the leaves. I haven't seen such kind earlier. Actually I too noticed those leaves in this picture, or else I would have taken picture of them too. 

Do tell me what are they called?

Tiny Flowers

These flowers (or what ever are they called) are so small in size, they merely can cover one third part of my smallest finger. I could not take the photograph properly, but in real they were looking very cute.

Sunflower

I went to Lonavala last week to my uncle's farm house. Over there he has made such a beautiful garden, definitely anyone will fall in love with those flowers. This is one of the picture from that garden. I think this is a sunflower.
